Dr. Lager was one of the speakers at the 10-year "Runiversary" of Run Farther and Faster, a running organization in northern Virginia. The event, which was held in February 2020, provided education, resources, and support to distance runners. Dr. Lager spoke on mental strategies for runners to implement to get the most out of their race.

Dr. Hessler is a licensed psychologist in Maryland and is the Director of the MINDset Center, based in Bel Air, Maryland. Her training in mental health began in pediatric rehabilitation psychology at the Johns Hopkins Hospital and Kennedy Krieger Institute. After completing her fellowship and training, Dr. Hessler worked in private practice and taught at the undergraduate and graduate levels at Towson University and Loyola University of Maryland.
As a specialist in anxiety disorders, Dr. Hessler began working with elite athletes and local sports programs to build resilience and coping skills with her clients for the past 20 years. In 2018, she partnered with the Athletic Department at Towson University to create a dedicated mental health program for their Division I student athletes.
Based on her experience as a clinician and a parent of youth athletes, Dr. Hessler launched Person Before Player, a comprehensive mental wellness program educating student athletes, parents, and coaches on the mental health trends and skill sets needed in today’s athletic communities. Her program has partnered with several schools in Maryland with plans to expand nationally.
Dr. Hessler speaks frequently on topics related to athletes and mental health and also educated on issues related to athletes from diverse and underrepresented backgrounds.
