Dr. Lager was one of the speakers at the 10-year "Runiversary" of Run Farther and Faster, a running organization in northern Virginia. The event, which was held in February 2020, provided education, resources, and support to distance runners. Dr. Lager spoke on mental strategies for runners to implement to get the most out of their race.

Ryan Sappington (he/him), PhD is a Staff Psychologist in the Loyola University Maryland Counseling Center, where he serves as the Coordinator of Public Health and Student-Athlete Mental Health Services. Ryan earned his PhD in counseling psychology from the University of Maryland. He is also a former Division I soccer player with three master’s degrees (sport psychology, work/organizational psychology, counseling psychology) and a bachelor's degree in psychology and philosophy. His areas of interest, reflected across his clinical work, research, and consultation services, include issues related to: diversity, inclusion, belonging, and social justice; student-athlete mental health and performance; men and masculinities; trauma; and grief/loss. Ryan has previously worked in five different university counseling centers, an active-duty military hospital, community mental health, and the sport psychology departments of the U.S. Naval Academy and Philadelphia Union. In addition to his role at Loyola, Ryan offers performance counseling and team/organizational consultation services on the side.
