Dr. Lager was one of the speakers at the 10-year "Runiversary" of Run Farther and Faster, a running organization in northern Virginia. The event, which was held in February 2020, provided education, resources, and support to distance runners. Dr. Lager spoke on mental strategies for runners to implement to get the most out of their race.

Karelle Edwards-Perry is a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor (MD, WA), Certified Mental Performance Consultant (CMPC), and former 5-time Team Canada 100-meter hurdler. She has experienced firsthand how mental wellness can drive, disrupt, or define an athlete’s performance and overall well-being. Through her practice, Embrace Your Pace Performance® PLLC, she provides counseling and performance consulting to athletes and coaches at all levels. Karelle has supported professional athletes through Athletes Unlimited and continues to deliver mental skills development for the University of Alberta Track & Field team. Her work sits at the intersection of mental health, identity, and performance—examining how deeper barriers and unresolved issues can impact functioning, mindset, and performance outcomes.
As a biracial Black woman, she works closely with multiracial individuals, creating space to explore their evolving identities and how those identities show up in and beyond sport. Her professional ambition is to help build systems where mental health is not an afterthought, but a foundational pillar of athletic success.
